I’m pleased to announce that I will be performing on shō with the Columbia University Gagaku Ensemble for the Miyagi Koto Ensemble concert on Friday, March 27th, at the Miller Theatre at Columbia University.

The event, organized by the Institute for Japanese Cultural Heritage Initiatives in collaboration with the Miyagi Koto Ensemble, presents a special koto (Japanese zither) concert featuring works by Michio Miyagi (1894-1956) in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the institute’s Japanese Heritage Music Initiative. The ensemble is led by the current head of the Miyagi School of Koto, Yuriko Makise, and is joined by Hōzan Yamamoto (shakuhachi) and select members of the Columbia University Gagaku Ensemble.

The concert is free, but registration is required. You can find more information on this website: https://www.millertheatre.com/events/glories-of-the-japanese-music-heritage-xvii.

I’m excited and honored to perform traditional and 20th-century music with my colleagues from Columbia University Gagaku Ensemble: Alicia “Lish” Lindsay, Harrison Hsu, Cole Wagner, and the renowned Miyagi Koto Ensemble.

I hope to see you there!
